SILHOUETTE SOFT THREAD LIFT

What is the Silhouette Soft Thread lift?

The Silhouette Soft thread lift is a non-surgical face-lift using fine sutures to lift and volumise the face and neck without the down time and invasiveness of a surgical facelift.

In the Silhouette soft face lift small anchoring sutures are inserted in specifically determines areas of the face and are then used to elevate and lift the sagging areas providing immediate results.

As we age we lose facial volume through bone resorption, muscle atrophy, fat loss and redistribution resulting in noticeable changes in the overlying skin with sagging, loss of skin tone and contour irregularities. Combined with the gradual loss of collagen and elastin the skin becomes looser and begins to sag which further contributes to a tired and ageing face.

Silhouette soft thread lifts can target these changes by providing structural support and lift through the biodegradable sutures which are long lasting with a slow break down rate in the skin. Unlike other thread lift systems which just act as a lift to the skin the components of the silhouette soft thread lift actively work to stimulate collagen production which over time works to increase the volume and restore the shape of the face in a natural way.

What areas can be treated?

We use the silhouette soft threads to lift and sculpt numerous areas:

  • Contouring of the face
  • Lifting of the lower jaw reducing the appearance of jowels and marionette lines
  • Cheeks – decreasing the heavy nasolabial folds and restoring contour
  • Eye brows – giving a lift to a heavy brow
  • Neck – lifting sagging skin and reducing the appearance of ‘turkey neck’

What does the procedure involve?

Silhouette soft threads are made of a biodegradable material called Poly-L-Lactic Acid. Each suture has two series of cones which face in opposite directions offering a lift in both directions. The entire surface of the cones is smooth meaning patients don’t experience any discomfort then they are being anchored into the skin.

The silhouete thread procedure takes between 30-60 minutes and performed under local anaesthesia under sterile conditions. A small amount of local anaesthetic is injected into the skin where the sutures are to be places (at the entry and exit points). Through a small incision done with a needle the threads and cones are then gently pulled to lift and smooth the skin in the desired direction. Once the sutures are in the correct position the skin is massaged and barrier cream is applied.

What are the results of the procedure?

What sets the Silhouette Soft thread lift apart from other types of thread lifts is that it works in two different ways

  1. There is aLifting action for immediate results – the skin is pulled into position and lifted by the anchoring cones.
  2. Following this there is the regeneration action for gradual and natural results. This occurs due to the stimulation of collagen production which can further improve contours of the face, volume loss, improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles and refresh the skin.

Is there any down time?

Following the procedure there may be minor bruising at the incision points and some swelling and tenderness. Most patients find they can return to work that day or the following day without any concerns. There may be mild puckering or dimpling of the skin at the entry and exit points which will settle down in a few days. There may also be the sensation of tension and pulling to the areas that have been lifted.

Patients are provided with prophylactic antibiotics to reduce the risk of any infection to the placement of the sutures.

After care is advised including avoidance of facial procedures, heavy exercise and sleeping on their sides or stomach.

Who is a good candidate for thread lifting?

Slhouette soft thread lift is recommended for both men and women looking for a natural and non-surgical alternative to a facelift.

  • Those who require mild to moderate lifting and elevation
  • Those with early jowel formation and sagging to the cheeks
  • Those who need a subtle brow lift
  • Those who require tightening of the neck area
  • Those who need to rejuvenate and revitalize their face and neck

Patients who have unrealistic expectations and who have excess sagging of the skin and loss of facial volume may not be a suitable candidate for the procedure. Those with thin and fragile skin may also not be suitable. Dr Kate will conduct a full consultation and facial analysis prior to treatment planning and decide on a patients suitability for the procedure.

How long do results last?

Results are immediate and typically last for 12-24 months. In addition the results will continue to improve in the months following the procedure.

How much does a Silhouette Thread face lift cost?

The cost varies on the number of threads required for an optimal result. Many will require 2 threads on each side of the face for best results. A full facial treatment ranges between $1300 - $2500.
